Despite a decade of focused attention and awareness around multigenerational trauma, and more recently Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Bermuda’s community continues to struggle with the impacts of trauma and adversity. IAC’s Compassionate Care Conference provides an opportunity for social sector professionals to take part in an important conversation about how we engage with children, youth and families and broaden our focus on trauma informed care to something more transformative. The conference features a keynote presentation by leading US youth development and activist expert Dr. Shawn Ginwright to introduce Healing Centered Engagement. The conference will also feature the stories of 3 young Bermudians who experienced transformative relationships with service providers and will present IAC’s Compassionate Care research findings.
